The Old Republic Whiffle Ball League (ORWBL) was
established in June 2007, by co-founders Koby Keck and
Jared Emmons.
The league is named after an 1860 Italianate mansion
located in New Carlisle, Indiana. The landmark is owned
and operated by Historic New Carlisle, Inc. and has no
affiliation with the league itself.
As of 2011, eight teams compete in the ORWBL, split into
the American and National Leagues. Each team has its
own ballpark, located in cities and towns across Northern
Indiana. Towns represented in the ORWBL include: New
Carlisle, South Bend, La Porte, Rolling Prairie, Hudson
Lake, and Mill Creek.
Currently, the league operates on a 42-game schedule, with
three-game series played on Wednesday evenings and
Sunday afternoons from the beginning of June to the end of
July.
The postseason traditionally begins at the beginning of
August, after the New Carlisle City Championship, a
slow-pitch tournament sponsored in part by the league.
The ORWBL is a proud member of the National Wiffle
League Association.
