Lindsey honored in pregame ceremony

NEW CARLISLE- Marc Lindsey made his much anticipated return to Migley Field on Sunday

afternoon. The Newts honored the legend in a ceremony prior to their Opening Day matchup

with the Wills Township Federalists.

Lindsey's iconic number two was the first number retired by not only the Newts, but by any

ORWBL franchise. A banner commemorating Lindsey's career was unveiled and will hang at

Migley Field permanently.

Lindsey was presented with a framed #2 jersey of the Newts famous Sunday blacks, worn

exclusively on the final day of the Hometown Days City Championship. Lindsey helped the

Newts to the 2008 title and most recently, an Elite Eight appearance in 2012.

Newts owner Koby Keck also presented Lindsey with the Slugs standings flag that flew over

the Migley Field scoreboard. Lindsey was the founder of the Banana Slugs franchise, which

began play in 2007 and folded after last season.

The pregame ceremony was the high point of the afternoon, as New Carlisle was swept on

the field by the Federalists.
