NEW CARLISLE - The Wiffle®Ball Championship returns to New Carlisle, July 27-28, 2019. One of the largest tournaments in the nation, The Championship features ORWBL clubs and other teams from across North America. The event features pool play on Saturday, with the top qualifiers advancing to Sunday's Hometown Cup Playoffs. The final four teams meet at Migley Field in the Hometown Cup Finals, scheduled for 1:20pm on Sunday afternoon. The last team standing is awarded the covet
Rehlander decides post-Slugs future
NEW CARLISLE- Shortly after being named 2012 AL Cy Young, Adam Rehlander found a new place to pitch: Migley Field. Rehlander and the Newts have agreed to a three-year deal which
will bring the former Slugs ace back to New Carlisle.
Rehlander is no stranger to the Newts, as he played for the club in 2008 during the Slugs
one-year hiatus. However, he has spent the rest of his six year ORWBL career on the other
side of the rivalry with the Slugs.

Ellis, Ryans named Most Valuable Players
NEW CARLISLE- In a season filled with ridiculous offensive numbers, many players were worthy of Most Valuable Player consideration. In total, 14 sluggers either tied or broke the
previous record of 59 home runs for a season. Eleven players had a batting average of .600
or better, and 15 drove in more than 100 runs.
However, team performance comes into play when determining an individual’s value as well.

NEW CARLISLE- Pitching in a slow-pitch wiffleball league is no easy task, especially in 2012, when Old Republic Wiffle Ball League teams put up beyond-video-game offensive
numbers. However, a few pitchers stood out this season. Voted on by the league’s
managers, the top pitcher from the American and National Leagues were awarded the Cy
Young.
The 2012 Cy Young winners are Adam Rehlander of the G-Slugs in the American League and

HESTON- Seth Shail of the Gangster Slugs has informed the league office that he will be taking over the franchise in 2013, giving more credibility to the rumors that current Slugs
manager Brian Lockhart is leaving for Maple City.
Lockhart led the Slugs to the ORWBL World Series, and also won AL Manager of the Year, in
his first season as team owner. It has been speculated that he will leave the team to join the
Maple City Magic, after playing for the Magic in the WIFFLE

NEW CARLISLE- Throughout this week, the 2012 season awards will be announced on ORWBL.com. All awards were voted on by the managers of the league. The first honors to be
handed out are for Manager of the Year.
Not surprisingly, the two managers of the ORWBL World Series were named for their
respective leagues: Heston's Brian Lockhart for American League Manager of the Year and
Cult West's Scott Soos for National League Manager of the Year. The 2012 season marked

2012 All-Star Game Voting Results
NEW CARLISLE- Fans of the Old Republic Wiffle Ball League made their voices heard, casting over 570 votes for this year's All-Star Game. The starters for Friday's game have been
selected.
Full All-Star Game rosters will be released once American League manager Andy Ellam and
National League manager Tony Koch select their choices for reserves.

Regular season schedule announced
NEW CARLISLE- The Commissioner's office has released the 2012 Old Republic Wiffle Ball
League regular season schedule. Opening Day is slated for Wednesday, May 30 and the
season will wrap up on Wednesday, July 25.
Once again, three-game ORWBL sets will be played on Wednesdays and Sundays
throughout the summer. Games will not be held on Father's Day (Sunday, June 17) or the
Fourth of July (Wednesday, July 4). Additionally, the league will not play any games during the

NEW CARLISLE- Multiple Old Republic Wiffle Ball League teams have re-branded themselves heading into the 2012 season. The following are some of the changes the
league's teams have made for this year:
New ownership has completely revamped the franchise formerly known as the Banana
Slugs. The team has moved from Hudson Lake to Rolling Prairie, where they will adopt
'Heston' as their location name. The team's nickname has been changed from Banana
Slugs to Gangster Slugs.
Widespread managerial changes for 2012
NEW CARLISLE- Although the long Old Republic Wiffle Ball League offseason saw very few major player transactions, big changes came at the top for many of the league's
organizations. Of the eight teams returning from 2011, five will have new managers for 2012.
With the addition of the two expansion teams, the league will see seven rookie skippers this
season.
