NEW CARLISLE - The Wiffle®Ball Championship returns to New Carlisle, July 27-28, 2019. One of the largest tournaments in the nation, The Championship features ORWBL clubs and other teams from across North America. The event features pool play on Saturday, with the top qualifiers advancing to Sunday's Hometown Cup Playoffs. Ellam still searching for new team
GRANGER- What a difference a year can make. A year ago at this time, Andy Ellam was
preparing to take over the ORWBL's most successful franchise, attempting to lead the South
Bend Sour Wowers to a three-peat.
Now that the franchise has folded, sources say the former South Bend skipper is leaning
toward retirement. However, the league office has not received any paperwork to confirm this
report.
So far, only one former Sour Wowers player has signed with a new team.
Serge decides future
NEW CARLISLE- As news broke that the South Bend Sour Wowers would not return for the 2013 season, many speculated on the wiffleball futures of the team's star players. For the

SOUTH BEND - When Sour Wowers manager Andy Ellam held his press conference announcing the folding of the franchise, he spoke of the possibility of big news coming from
the city of South Bend.
The quote was immediately tweeted out by the official account of the South Bend Muffs, a
perennial City Championship contender. The Muffs have played three years in the Hometown
Days tournament, reaching the Final Four, Elite Eight, and Sweet Sixteen.

GRANGER- At a recent press conference from his home that concerned the future of the franchise, Sour Wowers manager Andy Ellam announced that the team will not play in the
league next season.
The two-time ORWBL World Series champions had fallen on hard times this past season,
although Ellam claims that the team’s disappointing record is not the main determinant of the
franchise’s decision. “We knew the frozen treat from South Bend was bound to melt

2012 All-Star Game Voting Results
NEW CARLISLE- Fans of the Old Republic Wiffle Ball League made their voices heard, casting over 570 votes for this year's All-Star Game. The starters for Friday's game have been
selected.
Full All-Star Game rosters will be released once American League manager Andy Ellam and
National League manager Tony Koch select their choices for reserves.

Two players hit for cycle on Sunday
NEW CARLISLE- Although it has certainly been done before, no cycles have ever been officially recorded in the Old Republic Wiffle Ball League. On Sunday afternoon, Matt Serge
of the Sour Wowers and Kaylor Keck of the Newts each accomplished that feat. League
historians believe it is the first time multiple players have hit for the cycle in the same day.

Regular season schedule announced
NEW CARLISLE- The Commissioner's office has released the 2012 Old Republic Wiffle Ball
League regular season schedule. Opening Day is slated for Wednesday, May 30 and the
season will wrap up on Wednesday, July 25.
Once again, three-game ORWBL sets will be played on Wednesdays and Sundays
throughout the summer. Games will not be held on Father's Day (Sunday, June 17) or the
Fourth of July (Wednesday, July 4). Additionally, the league will not play any games during the

NEW CARLISLE- Although the long Old Republic Wiffle Ball League offseason saw very few major player transactions, big changes came at the top for many of the league's
organizations. Of the eight teams returning from 2011, five will have new managers for 2012.
With the addition of the two expansion teams, the league will see seven rookie skippers this
season.
