Soos named MVP for second straight year

NEW CARLISLE - With the eighth season of the Old Republic Wiffle Ball League in the

books, the league will recognize its top performers of this past season. Scott Soos of the Cult West Warriors has been named 2014 ORWBL Most Valuable Player. Known to many as "Home Run Guy," Soos also hits for a high average. In addition to the MVP award, Soos takes home the Triple Crown award with a .641 average, 84 home runs and 127 RBI. Since bringing the Warriors into the league in 2012, Soos has been far and away the most prolific hitter of the ORWBL. For anyone who has seen the ball fly off his bat, his incredible numbers are not hard to believe. Not only is the MVP award the second straight for Soos, it is the third in a row for the Warriors. Cult West has had an MVP for all three years of their existence. Deservedly so, as the Warriors have gone 91-29 over that time frame and brought a whole new level of competitive to the league. Soos led them to another successful campaign, with a 31-5 record and appearance in the World Series. Although it is not ORWBL play, Soos and the Warriors also won their second consecutive Hometown Days City Championship this summer. Soos was named to the tournament's top ten players of all-time list, as part of the festival's 10th annual celebration. A pair of Newts finished second and third in the voting. Garrett Curless, who played in a career high 30 games, lead the Newts to their best record in franchise history finished second. Noah Shail, acquired midseason, was the piece to put New Carlisle over the top was third. All ORWBL awards were voted on by the managers of the league.
