Heat take 2 from Goats despite being without Monhaut

TWIN BRANCH- The Hudson Lake Heat picked up an important series win to start the season as they won 2 out of 3 on the road against Twin Branch. Despite being without their skipper Jared Monhaut, Hudson Lake showed that they might just be deeper than we thought.

Always supporting one of the smallest rosters in the league, depth has always been a bit of a concern for the Heat if one of their stars was not able to make it to a series. It looks like the addition of Bailey Rhed in a trade last season could really spark Hudson Lake to a bounce back 2020 season.

Coming off of their first losing season since 2014, the Heat made an Opening Day statement as they handed the Billy Goats their first 2 losses of the season. Twin Branch only lost 4 games in the regular season in 2019.

Hudson Lake got solid support from their entire lineup as Bob Bushman, Doug Benner, Bailey Rhed, and Ben McDonald each had 7+ hits in the series. They also received some solid production from the 5 hole hitter Dusty Curl who went 6-17 with a Homer and a pair of RBI's. McDonald led the power surge as he belted out 3 Home Runs to go along with 5 RBI. Bailey Rhed led the team in RBI's with 7.

Meanwhile, Twin Branch struggled to get much support from the bottom of their lineup as they look to fill the void left by the departure of both Connor VanOverberge and Kaden Abegg in the offseason.

While the majority of the Twin Branch lineup was still able to hit for average, Andrew Doran was the only Goat to put the ball over the fence. Doran put together a very respectable opening Day performance despite the tough hitting conditions as he was able to hit 4 Home Runs in the series.

Twin Branch will look to turn things around next week as they will travel to The Palace to take on the Bourissa Hills Wildcards (0-3). Meanwhile, Hudson Lake will look to keep things rolling as they will travel to Mishawaka (1-2) in what should be a fun series.
