Liberatore, Soos named MVP in 2013

NEW CARLISLE- After a season of ridiculous batting statistics in 2012, production at the plate

was down across the board this season. However, a few players were still able to continue the offensive firepower in 2013. Not surprisingly, the most valuable players led their respective clubs to division titles during the regular season. The 2013 Most Valuable Player awards were given to Zach Liberatore of the Magic in the American League and Scott Soos of the Warriors in the National League. Liberatore led Maple City in nearly every offensive category, including 52 HR and 90 RBI, which were also best in the American League. Behind his bat and AL Cy Young Shane Anderson, the Magic cruised to a 34-8 record. Maple City easily won the AL division crown by 12 games over the Spicer Lake Soggy Bottom Boys. In the National League, Soos actually improved upon his video game numbers of a year ago. Leading all hitters by a wide margin, the Warriors' captain hit 90 homers and drove in 138 runs. Soos also tossed the second perfect game in ORWBL history against EA on June 30.Cult West captured the NL division title with a 29-13 record. This concludes ORWBL.com's coverage of the individual awards. Check back later in the fall for the updated league history section.
