Postseason format released


LA PORTE- Commissioner Alex Friedman has released the 2016 postseason format as June is already here. The league will continue to go with the all in format where all 12 teams reach the playoffs. Home field advantage for the World Series will be decided in the 2016 ORWBL All Star Game at Migley Field.

The winners of each Division will earn a first round bye and will not have to play in the 1 game Wild Card Round. Below is the full postseason format:

Wild Card:

AL #6 vs. AL #3 @ AL #2 ballpark (1 Game Playoff)

AL #5 vs. AL #4 @ AL #1 ballpark (1 Game Playoff)

NL #6 vs. NL #3 @ NL #2 ballpark (1 Game Playoff)

NL #4 vs. NL #4 @ NL #2 ballpark (1 Game Playoff)

Division Series:

Winner of AL 3/6 @ AL #2 (Best of 3)

Winner of AL 4/5 @ AL #1 (Best of 3)

Winner of NL 3/6 @ NL #2 (Best of 3)

Winner of NL 4/5 @ NL #1 (Best of 3)

League Championship Series

Winners of ALDS series (Best of 5) Lower seed will host Games 1 and 2, with the higher seed hosting Games 3, 4*, 5*.

Winners of NLDS series (Best of 5) Lower seed will host Games 1 and 2, with the higher seed hosting Games 3, 4*, 5*.

World Series (2-3-2 format)

NL champion vs. AL Champion (Home field advantage will be decided at the 2016 All Star Game.
