Maple City stays perfect at home

LA PORTE- After dropping 2 out of 3 to Hudson Lake last week, Maple City got back on track with an interleague series sweep over the Saugany Lake White Lightning. The series kicked off a 9 game homestead for Maple City as they will look to regain the top spot in the American League.

While the Magic weren't great at the plate, their pitching and defense did everything that they could to pick up 3 wins. Shane Anderson, Wes Ellis, and Drew Luther all picked up a win, allowing 1 run each. In Game 2, Ellis took a no hitter into the 5th inning and was just 4 outs away from what would have been Ellis's first career no hitter.

Bailey Rhed was not having any of that as he hooked a home run right down the lane to brake up the chance at a perfect game. The White Lightning were a little shorthanded and they were never really able to get into a rhythm. After starting the season 3-0, Saugany Lake has dropped 8 out of their last 9 and are currently in the midst of a 7 game losing streak. They could not be more pleased to get back home where they are 3-0 on the season. This series ended a 9 game road trip that did not go as planned.

As for Maple City, they are off to their best start since the 2014 season in which they won the American League before losing to the New Carlisle Newts in 6 games in the World Series. The Magic will now turn their attention to the Newts again as they will square off in a highly anticipated interleague battle. Maple City swept the Newts at Magic Park last season, ending an 11 game losing streak against New Carlisle dating back to the 2014 ORWBL World Series.
