Magic/Newts to kick off World Series on Sunday with Games 1&2.

NEW CARLISLE- After nearly 3 months of ORWBL wiffleball, only 2 teams remain in contention to win the 2016 ORWBL World Series. In the American League, the Maple City Magic rolled thru their opponents, going 5-0 with 4 blowout wins. Maple City brings a 9 game winning streak heading into the World Series.

Meanwhile, the New Carlisle Newts will come out of the National League after taking down the White Lightning 3-1 in the NLCS. It will mark the Newts 4th consecutive World Series appearance. They were beaten by Cult West in 7 games last year and now have the Cult West Core on their side.

Before last year, the Newts had won back to back titles and are now just 4 wins away from returning to glory. The acquisitions of the Cult West core have been crucial to their success and figure to be in the World Series as well.

Most of the Newts core will be gunning for their 3rd ORWBL title as both the Newts and Warriors won 2 titles within the past 4 seasons. Meanwhile, Maple City's entire roster is hungry for their first ORWBL title.

This will be Maple City's 2nd World Series appearance. They of course lost to the Newts in 6 games back in 2013. Cult West and New Carlisle have gone at it since then, taking home all of the World Series championships.

Shane Anderson, Wes, Ellis, and Brian Lockhart have all been to 2 World Series, losing both of them. Meanwhile, Friedman, Wisniewski, Severs, and some of the other original Magic will be playing in their 2nd.

Maple City will bring in 3 notable players playing in their first World Series. Long time Emery's Army Manager Eric Johnson has played a key role for the Magic this season and will now get his first chance at winning an ORWBL title. Meanwhile, John Arndt will make his World Series debut. Arndt has been the game changer for the Magic as they have gone 13-1 since acquiring him.

Lastly, it is worth noting that Magic former MVP Zach Liberatore will be playing in his first wiffleball championship games. Liberatore was unavailable for the entire 2013 World Series and will now get his chance, 4 years later.

The stars will certainly be out on Sunday night when the Magic travel to New Carlisle to take on the Newts in Games 1&2. Maple City will look to take over home field advantage before the series shifts over to Magic Park for Games 3,4, and 5.
