World Series Game 2: Magic Protect Home Field, shutout Newts, 8-0.

World Series Game 2 Final: Maple City, 8 New Carlisle 0 (Magic lead series 2-0)

LA PORTE- After taking down the Newts in Game 1, Maple City built off of that momentum by handling the Newts, 8-0 in Game 2.

The Maple City bats continued to stay hot as the Magic powered 5 Home Runs through the wind while Wes Ellis shut down the Newts on the mound.

Liberatore, Ellis, and Jared Jonkman were all finding their Home Run stroke while Caleb Jonkman continued to set the table as Maple City's leadoff hitter.

With a talented, and deep roster, Maple City Manager Alex Friedman had some tough decisions to make but felt confident with Anthony Rieff in the 5 spot and out in Right Field.

Despite struggling at times this season, Rieff made his mark by providing the Magic with hard hits and impressive defense.

Despite a valiant effort from New Carlisle's Garrett Curless, the Newts simply were not able to get anything going at the plate and now will head back to Migley Field where the Newts have had their way with Maple City.

The Magic confidence is now through the roof as Maple City is now just 2 wins away from winning their first ORWBL Championship in what is now their 7th season in the league.

No team has ever come back from a 2-0 deficit to win the ORWBL World Series but this New Carlisle team is filled with guys who have combined to win the last 5 ORWBL Championships and are therefore extremely battle tested.

The series shifts to Migley Field on Thursday, August 10th for Games 3, 4, and 5 of the 2017 ORWBL World Series.
