Maple City's Jared Jonkman defends his Golden Bat title at the 2018 Hometown Days Home Run Derby

NEW CARLISLE- Just as he did in 2017, Jared Jonkman of the Maple City Magic took home the Golden Bat by winning the 2018 Hometown Days Home Run Derby at The Wiffleball Championship.

Unlike last year, the wind was not howling in which made for an exciting show for all of the players and fans in attendance. The Friday night festivities kicked off The Wiffleball Championship weekend and were followed by the annual fireworks show.

With 36 competitors in the Derby, it ended up coming down to Nate Arndt and Jared Jonkman. The youngest Arndt put on a show in front of a lot of family and nearly took home his first Golden Bat as he has now finished in 2nd place 4 different years.

However, Arndt and Jonkman truly put on a show as both hitters were blasting balls into the bleachers as this showdown ended up going to an extra 1 minute tiebreaker in which Jonkman prevailed 12-11.
