Best Case, Worst Case: County Line Kings

Turn on those team twitter notifications - ORWBL is back. We’re counting down the days until the 2019 season kicks off on May 5th by looking at the floor and ceiling of all 16 teams in the league. Today we continue the youth movement in previewing our third expansion team: the County Line Kings. We look forward to hearing all about wrong these previews are, and how your team is being “slept on” this season.

Key Player: Roman Kuntz OF/P

Being the only player on this roster with significant ORWBL experience, expect Roman Kuntz to shine in his sophomore campaign. As a rookie last year, Roman turned into a staple of Emery's Army's aging lineup. Only a senior in high school, the youngest Kuntz brother adds a smooth left-handed swing to his sure hands in the outfield to form a solid two-way player. Kuntz is already a solid hitter and fielder despite his limited wiffleball experience. His potential seems to be off the charts. One well-respected league veteran claimed him to be "the next Shail." It remains to be seen if that will hold true, but one thing is for sure: this Kings team will go as far as Roman can take them.

Best-Case Scenario:

Kuntz builds off his solid rookie campaign and receives his first of hopefully many All-Star Game appearances. Manager and ace Michael Forrester joins him in the All-Star Game, as the team rallies behind the southpaw's strong pitching. With a number of athletes in the outfield, the Kings cement their identify as one of the stronger defensive teams in the league. They get enough hitting from their lineup to add the defense, resulting in an above .500 rookie season. Securing home field advantage in their first playoff series is a reasonable goal for these young sluggers, as they poise themselves for a breakout in 2020.

Worst-Case Scenario:

The first season of ORWBL proves to be a tough adjustment for the young Kings, as they struggle to find consistency. The defense is worse then expected, with their wiffle inexperience really shows in that facet of the game. Although they show signs of promise, they can't put it together in time. They, like most young teams, struggle to find power at the plate which hurts them in the colder May portion of the season. The AL West proves to be the toughest division in ORWBL, and the Kings finish towards the bottom of the AL.
