2020 ORWBL milestone update

The Old Republic Wiffleball League has been keeping stats since the 2010 season. With that being said, there are numerous players who have reached a milestone already or who will likely reach a milestone in the 2nd half of the season. Let’s take a look at the milestones that have already been reached so far here in the 1st half of the season. (Article was written prior to the start of Week 5.)

-Early on in the season, New Carlisle Newt and former Cult West star Scott Soos reached not one, not two, but three different milestones in what has arguably been the most dominant career of any player in ORWBL history.

Soos became the first player in ORWBL history to reach 400 Home Runs and 600 RBI while also becoming the 3rd player in ORWBL history to join the 700 Hits club, joining Tony Koch and fellow Newts teammate Koby Keck. Showing very little signs of slowing down, expect Soos to continue piling on these stats for however long he wants to.

Soos was not the only Newt to reach certain milestones so far this season. New Carlisle’s Noah Shail just became the 14th player in ORWBL history to reach the 300 RBI club.

Great Lakes Godfathers star Mark Haase hit his 200th RBI in his 5th season in what has been a very productive career so far.

Haase was not the only ORWBL player to reach that mark as Granger’s Seth Campbell also reached the 200 RBI mark in the first half of the season.

Fellow Panther and base hit machine Griffin Smith joined the 200 Hits club as Smith continues his brilliant start to his ORWBL career.

Lastly, Lynn Street’s Manager & Captain Nick Brassell just recently hit his 100th Home Run of his career on the same weekend that Lynn Street took two out of three from the Twin Branch Billy Goats. Brassell has quietly been putting together a very productive career in what is currently his 5th season as the man in charge of Lynn Street.

With 12 games remaining, there are still many players who are likely to reach a milestone before the conclusion of the 2020 season. Below are the milestones likely to be reached in the 2nd half of the season.

-Alex Friedman currently holds a 197-101 managerial record. With 3 more wins he will join Koby Keck as the only Managers to reach the 200 Wins mark.

-Shane Anderson needs 15 more hits to reach 500.

-Wes Ellis also needs 18 more hits to reach 500.

-Garrett Curless is currently at 663 hits as he needs just 37 more hits to become the 4th player to reach the 700 mark. He has 35 so far this season so it is very well within reach.

-Noah Shail needs 5 more HR to become 10th player to hit 200 HR.

-Jay Ryans needs 13 more HR to become 10th player to hit 200 HR.

-Shane Anderson needs 22 HR to join 200 HR club.
