Ellam still searching for new team

GRANGER- What a difference a year can make. A year ago at this time, Andy Ellam was

preparing to take over the ORWBL's most successful franchise, attempting to lead the South

Bend Sour Wowers to a three-peat.

Now that the franchise has folded, sources say the former South Bend skipper is leaning

toward retirement. However, the league office has not received any paperwork to confirm this

report.

So far, only one former Sour Wowers player has signed with a new team. Matt Serge has

agreed to play with the Newts. It was widely speculated that Serge and Ellam would be a

packaged deal, but that seems unlikely at this point as New Carlisle already must clear a

roster spot for Serge.

It would appear that Ellam has options should he choose to play. Given the strong off-field

relationship between Emery's Army and the Sour Wowers, Rolling Prairie would seem like a

likely destination.

However, the Grassy Knoll has been in a state of turmoil since EA failed to show up for the

City Championship finals for the third consecutive year. Rumors surfaced on Twitter that

Derrick Jackson and Jake Lawrence were exploring the possibility of starting an expansion

franchise.

If New Carlisle or Rolling Prairie do not work out, Ellam himself has alluded to possible

surprises in South Bend.
