Serge decides future

NEW CARLISLE- As news broke that the South Bend Sour Wowers would not return for the

2013 season, many speculated on the wiffleball futures of the team's star players. For the

club's most prominent star, the future appears to be green and orange.

The New Carlisle Newts have announced an agreement with Matt Serge that would bring the

legend to Migley Field. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. When it becomes

finalized, it will be another huge acquisition for the Newts, who have already signed Chayse

Davis and Adam Rehlander off the free agent market.

Serge, who has spent his four-year career in South Bend, has become one of the league's

most decorated individuals. He is one of only two people to have won awards for MVP, Cy

Young and Manager of the Year.

On the mound, Serge will certainly bolster what has been the league's worst pitching staff.

He has won 24 games over the past two seasons. By comparison, his new team has only

won 25 games during that time. When he's not pitching, he'll bring sure-handedness to the

Newts defense.

At the plate, his .650 batting average during the stat-keeping era is the league's best. Serge's

40 home runs in 2012 led the Sour Wowers, and his power numbers should only increase

with more opportunities to hit at Migley Field.

During a two-year stint as Sour Wowers manager, he led the franchise to two consecutive

ORWBL Championships.
