Panthers sweep Leps in honor of Snead

GRANGER- It was an emotional day in Granger as the Panthers made their ORWBL debut, playing for the first time since losing teammate Cam Snead in a car accident over the winter. Snead, a core part of the Panthers organization loved the game of wiffleball and was truly a remarkable person.

Granger honored Snead in their ORWBL debut by sweeping the Leprechauns en route to a 3-0 start to the season. Over 50 people showed up to Panther Park for Opening Day while Cam Snead's parents threw out the first pitch. All of the Granger players wore Snead #4 jerseys and will be wearing those jerseys (pictured above) all season long.

The young Panthers showed right away that they will be a threat in the National League this season as they are one of the younger, talented teams in the league. With Griffin Smith leading the way, Granger also got great production from Seth Campbell, Austin Williams, and Tiki Serosznski. Griffin Smith had a very impressive ORWBL debut, going 11-15 with 11 runs and 8 RBI's. Campbell drove in 10 runs as those 2 are definitely one of the better young duo's in the league.

Manager Brett Shepard was incredibly happy with his team's start to the season as he had some great quotes in an interview with WNDU. This team has faced adversity and they are determined to have a great first year in the league this season.

As for the Leprechauns, they had a tough day, getting blown out in Games 2 & 3. Manager Nick Brassell still has a lot of confidence in his team heading into Week 2 as they will look to continue to trust the process and bounce back in Week 2. They will look to make some noise as they will have a Week 2 matchup against the defending champion New Carlisle Newts.
