League Office Approves Elkhart Expansion Team: "BFAM"

NEW CARLISLE - In recent years, the Old Republic Wiffleball League has grown and expanded considerably. With additions scaling from Michigan City, all the way into Granger there is no doubt that the league is becoming larger and larger every season. This trend will continue in 2019 as a new expansion team will be joining the league: the Elkhart B-FAM.

BFAM (which stands for Brothers From Another Mother) joins ORWBL following solid showings in a number of non-league tournaments in 2018. After team staples Walter Griffin III and Brandon Terry participated in the Hometown Cup as members of Landsharks, they were hooked and brought their own team under the name BFAM to Cody's Community Tournament.

At Cody's Community, those two were joined by Chaz Boyd and Max Fritz who will also be a part of their 2019 ORWBL roster. BFAM went 6-1 in this tournament and speculation about a potential league team instantly became a hot rumor in the ORWBL community.

BFAM followed that up with another solid showing at the Peacefest Wiffleball Classic and finally finished up their season with a Final 3 run in the Friedman & Associates Fall Classic where they ended up losing to the eventual champs, the Maple City Magic. BFAM's run was highlighted with a win over the Twin Branch Billy Goats near the tail end of the double elimination bracket.

The League office had been in contact with BFAM for a couple weeks leading up to the FA Fall Classic and Commissioner Friedman and Walter Griffin III had some great talks and the addition to the league became just a matter of time at that point.

After that series of solid non-league play, BFAM had made up their mind. They would be joining ORWBL come 2019.

Hailing from Elkhart Indiana, the Brothers are an inexperienced team with loads of potential as they showed through their 2018 tournament success. Thus far BFAM has proved to be one of the more enthusiastic teams in recent memory. Their passion for the game is at an amazing level and this group of guys will be one of the most fun teams to play as their positive energy and love for the game of wiffleball is infectious.

Walter Griffin III will bring his squad with high hopes and a lot of energy in 2019 as he will be Managing the Elkhart B-FAM. With the addition of this young talented team, that now brings the league back to 14 teams.
