World Series Game 1: Magic Win 14-9, hold onto Home Field Advantage

LA PORTE- For the 3rd time in 4 years, and 4th time overall, the New Carlisle Newts and Maple City Magic find themselves facing off against each other in the ORWBL World Series.

The New Carlisle Newts path to the World Series was much smoother than the Magic as the Newts went 6-0 in the National League Playoffs including a (2-0) NLDS sweep over the top seeded Granger Panthers who went 21-3 this season.

The Newts then went on to sweep the Olive Township Mechanics (3-0) in the National League Championship Series.

While the Magic find themselves back in the World Series for a 4th straight year, this was definitely their toughest route to the World Series. The Magic faced an 0-2 deficit in the ALCS Best of 5 vs. the Twin Branch Billy Goats and were 0-5 against the Goats on the season heading into The Goat House for the first time.

After a 2 run Game 3 win, the Maple City bats got red hot as the Magic ended up winning 3 straight must win games to clinch another American League Pennant and keep their hopes of a 3-peat alive.

That now brings us to one of the most hyped and what should be competitive World Series in ORWBL history as the Newts are looking to win their league leading 4th ORWBL World Series and first since 2016.

Meanwhile, the Magic are looking to become the 1st team in ORWBL history to win 3 straight championships and also tie the Newts for most titles in league history.

The 4th ORWBL World Series meeting between the two teams (Newts have won 2/3) started with the Magic holding their own on their home field. Behind stellar hitting performances from Caleb Jonkman, Drew Luther, Jared Jonkman, and John Arndt, the Magic out slugged their way to a 14-9 Game 1 victory.

The versatile Caleb Jonkman picked up the win on the mound while also leading the team at the plate. Garrett Curless did everything on the mound to keep the Newts in the game but they simply could not get enough run support.

With the Magic leading the series (1-0) the Newts were looking to steal home field advantage away from the Magic in Game 2.
