World Series Game 3: Newts Take a 2-1 Series Lead after an 11-10 Win

NEW CARLISLE- As the 2019 ORWBL World Series shifted to beautiful Migley Field, both teams headed in knowing that they would need a clean 3 game sweep to win a championship on Sunday.

After 2 competitive games at Magic Park, the Newts and Magic headed into Game 3 with the series tied (1-1).

In the first game of the day, New Carlisle got off to a great start. Starting pitcher Garrett Curless allowed just a single run in the opening frame, a home run by Caleb Jonkman that was dropped over the fence.

The Newts answered back with six in the bottom half, putting the pressure on the 2 time reigning champions.

Maple City fought back to take a 7-6 lead in the third, and the game was tied, 9-9, going into the bottom of the fourth inning.

New Carlisle got a run in each the fourth and the fifth, while Curless slammed the door on the Magic, allowing one run over the final two innings as the Magic squandered multiple opportunities to take advantage, following suit of Game 2.

Trailing by 1, the Magic were counting on the bottom of the order to get things back to the top. Unfortunately for them, Shane Anderson and Alex Friedman made the final outs of the game therefore dropping 2 straight to the Newts.

After picking up another tight 11-10 win in Game 3, the momentum had clearly shifted to the National League Champions who took a (2-1) series lead heading into a crucial Game 4.
