Richards, Boren take home AL and NL Most Improved Player Awards

Throughout the week, we will be announcing the 2019 ORWBL regular season awards leading up to the World Series. We will start with the 1st ever ORWBL Most Improved Player Award for both the American and National League. Stay tuned throughout the week for more awards as tomorrow we will be announcing the 2019 Rookies of the Year!

NEW CARLISLE- As the season concluded, ORWBL Managers had a vote for the 2019 regular season awards. All 16 Managers got their ballots in and the first award announced is the 2019 Most Improved Players. In the American League, La Porte Cyclones Manager and team leader took home the honors after being the lone player to hit 50 Home Runs this season.

Richards was the heart and soul of the Cyclones this season who had a respectable 11-13 inaugural season in the league despite losing in the Wild Card Game to who else but the Wildcards.

Richards transformed into a rising star this season and put himself in the MVP race after such an amazing season. One of the classier acts in ORWBL, Richards certainly deserves this honor.

Shifting over to the National League, in a narrow vote, Colton Boren of the Olive Township Mechanics was named the 2019 NL Most Improved Player. Boren's numbers at the plate went up.

Mechanics Manager, Aidan Cotter was quoted the following: "Boren turned into a stud/All Star level guy this year and was probably the biggest reason we were able to win our division as well as being our Interim Manager. He was also the only guy to play in all 24 games for us."

Boren continues to grow as a player and his season is not over just yet, as he and the Mechanics will look to come back from a 2-0 deficit in the NLCS to the Newts. Regardless, Boren's improvements did not go un noticed by the league.

Congratulations to both Richards and Boren on taking home the Most Improved Player Awards!
