Mechanics Sweep Sinners at Old Rock

NEW CARLISLE - The Olive Township Mechanics moved to 7-2 this season after sweeping the Sage Road Sinners; 9-0, 3-0, and 8-1. The Sinners fell to 0-9 following the sweep.

The rainy conditions resulted in some ugly wiffleball on Sunday afternoon, with the two teams combining for just 6 home runs. Mechanics Nate Arndt and Aidan Cotter led the way with two a piece, with Kody Webb and Sinner Jordan Mrozinski each managing to poke one out.

Sage Road has now been swept in each of their three series this season. The expansion team has been outscored by 86 runs through three weeks, far and away the worst mark in the league.

Olive Township continued their strong start to 2019. Their defense and pitching led the way as Nate Arndt picked up three wins on the mound and lowered his ERA to 3.85. Thus far the Mechanics have allowed just 26 runs, pacing the National League.

Moving forward, the Sinners will return home for a two week home stand. Next Sunday, Sage Road will take on a Saugany Lake Landsharks (3-6) team fresh of being swept themselves.

For Olive Township, they will stay home in Week 4 and take on the undefeated Granger Panthers (9-0). Next week's affair will pit the top two teams in the National League against each other, with the Mechanics attempting to make up ground on the first place Panthers.
