Granger Stays Perfect with Sweep of Olive Township

NEW CARLISLE - The Granger Panthers (12-0) continued their perfect start to 2019, sweeping the Olive Township Mechanics (7-5) by scores of; 8-5, 16-14, and 12-10.

Granger utilized the long ball early and often in this contest, pounding out 36 runs against what was the NL's top defense coming into Week 4. The Panthers rode Griffin Smith and Seth Campbell's hot bats in route to the sweep.

Additionally, it was Smith who picked up all 3 wins on the mound for the Panthers. With the victory, the former Cy Young winner picked up his league-leading 12th win and currently boasts a 6.00 ERA.

Olive Township, on the other hand, didn't have enough firepower to squeak anything by, dropping each game by less than 3 runs. In outfielder Garrett Ruiz's return, the former Muff took the Panthers deep 8 times.

Colton Boren followed suit, amassing 10 hits of his own but it wasn't enough. With a New Carlisle Newts (8-4) sweep, Olive Township dropped to 1 game back of first at the midway point of the season.

Moving forward, Granger will welcome the Saugany Lake Landsharks (6-6) in the opening of Snead Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm (EST) this Sunday, June 2nd.

For the Mechanics, they now begin an uphill battle with New Carlisle for the NL East crown. Next week Olive Township will host the Elkhart BFAM (9-3), currently on a 9-game winning streak.
